Dr. Antoni Tong is a recognized leader in battery circularity, energy storage, and electrified mobility, with more than 15 years of experience spanning battery R&D, second-life battery technologies, and clean-tech entrepreneurship. He is the founder and CEO of Smartville, a company focused on building scalable, high-value solutions for EV battery assessment, repurposing, and energy storage deployment. Driven by a vision to unlock the full lifecycle value of batteries, Dr. Tong is passionate about advancing sustainable energy infrastructure while reducing waste and strengthening environmental stewardship. Prior to founding Smartville, he worked as research scientist at UC San Diego and helped pioneer some of the industry’s earliest EV battery reuse initiatives, collaborating with leading global companies including Nissan, BMW, and Cummins.
