NAATBatt International is a vehicle for making contacts in and getting current market intelligence about the advanced battery industry and the advanced battery supply chain in North America.  NAATBatt meetings, events and conferences are where senior executives go to learn about what is new in battery technology and how those developments can benefit their bottom lines.

Battery technology is arguably the most important technology of the 21st Century.  Properly understood, battery technology is about providing electric power to a wide range of devices and technologies that will shape human society over the next hundred years without the need for an electric cord.  Vehicle technology, renewable energy, aviation, maritime propulsion systems, robotics, telecommunications infrastructure, high energy weapons, medical devices, consumer electronics and the “Internet of Things” will all depend on disconnected access to electric power.

More importantly, advances in those other technologies depend on, and will be paced by, advances in battery technology.  Making better vehicles, power grids, aircraft, medical systems, high energy weapons, consumer devices and the like all depend upon increasing the ability of batteries to store more and more energy in less and less mass. Developing and manufacturing better batteries will be key technology challenges of the 21st Century.

NAATBatt is where you will learn what is going on in batteries and who is making the progress happen.  Please do your part to help support the development of new battery technologies and grow the critically important advanced battery industry in North America.

Do you just work in the battery industry, or will you be part of it?

Membership Benefits

The NAATBatt Annual Meeting isn’t just another conference—it’s the pulse of the advanced battery industry. This is where the entire ecosystem gathers for high-value learning, meaningful connections, and the kind of candid conversations you simply can’t get anywhere else.

Members get exclusive access to thought-leadership sessions that cut through noise and tackle the issues shaping our sector today. You’ll also hear directly from fellow members during rapid-fire update presentations—your chance to discover new technologies, partnerships, and opportunities straight from the source.

But the true magic of the Annual Meeting lies in what happens between the sessions. NAATBatt has built a reputation for creating an environment where real relationships form and real business gets done. From curated networking breaks and relaxed receptions to shared meals, a vibrant spouse/companion program, and the ever-popular Advanced Battery Golf Tournament, every moment is designed to help you build a stronger, more connected professional network.

You’ll leave with more than insights—you’ll leave with new allies, partners, and friends across the industry. That’s the NAATBatt advantage.

Member Site Visit Meetings are one of the most powerful—and most unique—benefits of NAATBatt membership. These aren’t surface-level tours or standard trade show demos. They’re behind-the-scenes, all-access experiences where one member opens its doors and invites the entire NAATBatt community inside to see real operations, real innovations, and real industry leadership up close.

Each visit caps off with a complementary lunch, reception or dinner exclusively for members—an easy, natural setting to swap insights, compare challenges, meet potential partners, and strengthen relationships across the battery value chain.

For hosting companies, these meetings offer unmatched visibility. Instead of a booth and a PowerPoint, you get to showcase your capabilities in their true environment, demonstrating depth, scale, and expertise that simply can’t be replicated on a trade show floor. Many hosts have welcomed 100+ attendees—potential customers, suppliers, investors, and collaborators all in one place.

For visiting members, it’s a chance to gain firsthand knowledge of another firm’s processes, technologies, and best practices—insights you can take back to your own organization.

It’s a win for the host, a win for attendees, and a major advantage of being part of NAATBatt. Every Site Visit Meeting expands your network, deepens your industry understanding, and strengthens the connections that drive real business forward.

As an industry organization, NAATBatt is invited to attend and exhibit at a number of trade shows each year. Those trade shows have included programs focused on solar energy, wind energy, microgrid, defense energy, electric vehicles, stationary storage and other advanced applications of advanced battery technology. NAATBatt uses its booth to at those programs to educate visitors about the importance of energy storage technology. But NAATBatt also uses its booth to promote the commercial interests of its individual member firms. Under the terms of NAATBatt’s Sponsored Conference Program, NAATBatt member firms have the opportunity to use the NAATBatt booth to distribute information and literature about their commercial products. NAATBatt produces a “warm leads” report after each program, providing NAATBatt members with contact information for every person who visited the NAATBatt booth and made inquiry about a member or about an issue that is of interest to a member. The “warm leads” reports following NAATBatt Sponsored Conferences are the most cost effective lead generation service that any NAATBatt members can obtain. The reports themselves and can pay for the entire cost of a NAATBatt membership.
NAATBatt International has a history of successful government relations initiatives. NAATBatt’s government relations tactic of choice is to organize Washington “field trips” by C-level officers of its member firms. During those trips, NAATBatt executives meet as a group with high level government officials and talk with them directly about specific issues that are of concern to NAATBatt. No lobbyists are involved. NAATBatt field trips get the full attention of senior government officials and have been extremely effective in promoting policies that are important to NAATBatt member firms. Past NAATBatt field trips have advocated for such initiatives as enabling pay for performance schemes for ancillary services and ensuring adequate funding for distributed energy storage demonstration projects at the DOE. A NAATBatt government relations effort promoting adequate testing and certification of electric bus drivetrains in currently being planned. The Executive Directors Notes commentary in the Advanced Battery Weekly newsletter is regarded as the voice of the industry on policy matters. Government officials, who understand the fundamental importance of electrochemical energy storage technology, take that voice seriously.
