Mike Barber

Mike Barber is Sr. Manager, Environmental Programs at Rivian, where he helps turn environmental strategy into operating reality. He leads and provides expert guidance to cross-functional programs that support Rivian’s growth and long-term sustainability commitments, spanning waste minimization, hazardous materials and chemicals management, environmental compliance and permitting, site environmental due diligence, and the battery and end-of-life material workflows that are increasingly central to a circular automotive economy.

At Rivian, Mike works at the intersection of strategy, execution, and scale—building the programs, partnerships, and governance needed to support operations across North America and emerging international markets. His work includes leading major NEPA and DOE environmental review efforts for large infrastructure and site development projects, while also helping shape practical solutions for vehicle decommissioning, recycler coordination, and responsible material management. Before joining Rivian, Mike spent more than eight years with US Ecology, where he designed and implemented waste and environmental programs for multi-site clients across the U.S. and Canada, with a focus on compliance, landfill diversion, and scalable sustainability solutions.
