Ronald Butler

Ronald M. Butler is CEO of ESSPI (Energy Storage Safety Products International, LLC), a firm specializing in safety consulting for the energy storage and battery industries. ESSPI supports the design and development of systems for the safe transport and storage of battery technologies and is funded by the U.S. Department of Transportation to help advance safe battery packaging solutions. Ron has consulted on hundreds of battery fire safety interventions, training programs, and system design projects across the automotive, aerospace, marine, consumer electronics, and manufacturing sectors. He serves as a subject matter expert for the National Fire Protection Association and Underwriters Laboratories and has written extensively on lithium-ion battery safety. He holds master’s degrees from Wayne State University in Detroit.
