Organization Overview

Quantasonix is developing an inline, real-time characterization platform that makes the physical state of battery slurry observable during production. The platform seeks to report what is happening inside the mix continuously, rather than from grab samples pulled and analyzed after the batch has moved on. Reported states include homogeneity, agglomeration onset, and the sources of viscosity drift. The aim is prediction and prevention, not post-mortem.

The problem is well documented in the cell manufacturing literature: a meaningful share of downstream scrap is inherited from mixing-stage variability rather than generated at the coater, yet the mixing stage goes largely unobserved while it runs. Rheometry and offline periodic sampling are accurate but too slow and too sparse support robust control. Our measurement is line, non-destructive, and the underlying physics is not specific to any one chemistry or formulation.

The platform is governed. When conditions fall outside the range in which a measurement can be made reliably, it is designed to withhold the result and say so, rather than report a number it cannot support. In an environment where acting on bad data costs more than acting on no data, that is the distinction that matters.

Quantasonix is a development-stage company. Validation work is conducted through sponsored research and direct consulting relationships with faculty at leading research universities. The company operates from the Advanced Technology Development Center in Atlanta, Georgia, and from Carmel, Indiana.

Through NAATBatt, Quantasonix is seeking direct conversations with cell producers, materials organizations, and pilot-line operators working on mixing-stage variability, particularly organizations open to hosting or co-designing an evaluation.
